I am a nature and wildlife artist and am inspired by the way light and color play off each other in the natural world…I mainly work in high realism but have been experimenting a little with mixing loose color and realism.
I live in the Okanagan and the wildlife and landscapes of BC fill my creative world. I can’t think of another place in this world that allows me to paint and create the worlds I love.
In 1995 I journeyed to a Wildlife workshop in Jackson Hole and spent 3 days with wildlife artist and mentor Carl Brenders, whose work has inspired me for many years. I am a painter who loves detail, and painting detail, but had struggled with this because I was told ‘You don’t need to paint every little strand to get the effect’. But Brenders said to that he also struggled with this but came to the conclusion that he paints this way because that is who he is. And that is who I am…
I have worked as a commercial illustrator for the last 35 years. I am just getting back into creating my own paintings. I exhibited at many shows in the 90’s and have been selected for the Ducks Unlimited program back in 1998.
