About the Langley School District Foundation

For many years the Langley School District Foundation, now headed by executive director Alicia Rempel, has worked tirelessly to raise and distribute funds to help Langley students. The foundation's vision is that "Every Langley school district student reaches their full educational potential".

To say that food for students and families is a major component of the foundation’s work is no exaggeration and particularly so in the past two years when that need has become more acute.  As everyone can appreciate, students simply cannot focus on learning when distracted by hunger.

This year the West Fine Art Show’s early spring show will be called “Artists for Student Success”.  This partnership will cause 25% of all art sales, during the three-day-show, be directed to the foundation for the benefit of Langley students

Hello everyone,

Over the past month, as we promised to do, we fully support the restrictions of our provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and embraced her now-famous call:  "Be Kind, Be Calm, Be Safe”. We pivoted our show plans and moved our show online, running April 9-30.

The show is in its last few days and so we invite you all to take a few moments and make a visit with our 28 artists, the largest number we have ever hosted.  Leave a note in our guest book before you leave and tell us about your experience with us.

This is our fourth year partnered with the Langley School District Foundation. The amazing  work that this foundation performs in support of students can be seen at: https://www.langleyschooldistrictfoundation.com

During our show, artists are donating 25% of their sales at the show, to this foundation; this means, when you purchase art, you are also helping in this important work.

We have made it very easy to contact our artists directly to make purchases and to find out more about their work. You will find live-contact-links on each artists mini gallery.

And please do enter our art draw with four prizes, the first being a Richard Brodeur print, “The Captains”.  Tickets are easy to buy, just click on the poster. All proceeds to the foundation.

Hello everyone,

We embrace the gentle and heroic call: "Be Calm. Be Kind. Be Safe."

About a week ago, faced with high Covid counts and talk of a third wave, we decided to elevate our next West Fine Art Show  to an online format.  This means that on April 9 we will open our show and run three weeks, online, until April 30, NO MATTER WHAT!

Although we will circumnavigate covid, we are venturing into uncharted territory; this will be our first online show!

In a nutshell here is what we have planned so far.  First we added a few more artists because space was no longer an issue. We will have our usual art draw with some excellent prizes. We plan to offer  "Meet the Artist" Zoom sessions.  Visitors to our online show will find it easy to navigate and discover the wealth of art we offer.  Visitors will be able to connect quickly with each artist if they wish to make a purchase and, 25% of all sales will be donated to our charitable partner the Langley School District Foundation, as will all the proceeds from the art draw. With Covid outside our doors, our online show offers art, empathy and warmth and a chance to contribute to a better tomorrow.

We hope you will visit many times over the three-week run of our online show at www.westart.ca.  We also hope you will pitch-in and pass the word to your families, bubbles and friends, that the West Fine Art Show is open April 9-30...NO MATTER WHAT!

Brian Croft, president, West Fine Art Show Society, BC S0061972

Hello everyone,

In these unusual circumstances, we sincerely hope that you are keeping well.

As we promised to do, this newsletter is to let you know about our next show which opens April 9, 2021. It is with our usual optimism that we introduce 18 exceptional artists who we hope you will be able to visit at our stunning show at Glass House Estate Winery in south Langley.  Our website:   www.westart.ca   provides more details about the show as well as our covid preventative protocols.

Over the past few months we have been pro-active by adjusting our show plans, moving the date and incorporating all Covid restrictions and requirements.   We fully support the restrictions of our provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and embrace her now-famous call:  "Be Kind, Be Calm, Be Safe”.  Today we are hearing of variants and a possible third wave which may delay the loosening of restrictions on event and gatherings.   Although our April 9-11 show is fully planned at Glass House Estate Winery, we know there is a possibility that we will have to cancel that show.

This will be our fourth year partnered with the Langley School District Foundation. The amazing work that this foundation performs in support of students can be seen at: https://www.langleyschooldistrictfoundation.com

During our show, artists will donate 25% of their sales at the show, to this foundation; this means, when you purchase art, you are also helping in this important work.

As you can imagine, we disliked the idea that we might have to cancel, and so, some time ago, we decided to develop a contingency plan that would pivot our show into an online format, running April 9-30, should that be necessary.

Despite these uncertain times, I hope you will find a degree of certainty with us because, NO MATTER WHAT, the next West Fine Art Show opens on April 9, 2021.

For now, we are sending you our show poster so that you can see our artist line up and make plans to visit our show and meet the artists and their artwork at Glass House Estate Winery ...or...at our online show.

If the moment arrives in which we pivot to an online format, we will send you an update with more details.

Please forward this newsletter to friends and family, and thank you for your support.
